September is due to be a busy month for the smartphone industry, as rumours that Apple will unveil the long awaited iPhone 5 is mid-september has now been followed by the announcement that the firm’s first Windows 8 Smartphones will be unveiled in the first half of the month.
Will the new Nokia phones drown in the sea of publicity that is sure to surround the new iPhone 5? Or will Nokia’s partnership with Microsoft and the innovative Windows 8 operating system which will allow users to run their phones on the same operating system as their pc and laptop be able to take some of the steam out of the Apple steamroller?
It certainly looks set to be an interesting month, and although not many people would bet against continued Apple dominance of the market, nothing is certain. Rumours have it that the iPhone 5 will come with a new set of connectors, meaning that anyone with iphone docks or other equipment will have to replace everything to use the new handset. And if the leaked images are anything to go by, there is little new to the visual appearance of the new iPhone, except for the larger screen size.
