The anniversary of Egypt’s uprising began with violent clashes in the capital’s iconic Tahrir Square, and clashes between police and protesters later in the day.

Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Egypt following Friday prayers today, to voice their anger at President Mohamed Mursi on the second anniversary of the country’s uprising. According to officials at least 91 civilians and 42 security officers have been injured in violent clashes across the country, including Cairo, Alexandria, Suez and Port Said.

Muslim Brotherhood supporters of the President have refrained from taking to the streets themselves.
