Afghan Presidential Palace Attacked by Taliban
Gunfire and explosions rang out across Afghanistan’s capital city Kabul this morning, as a group of militants launched a daring attack on the Presidential Palace. Rocket propelled grenades where also fired at an American CIA building in the area, and US forces returned fire.
Afghan security forces successfully repelled the attack, which coincided with a press conference being held by President Hamid Karzai, and all of the militants are thought to have been killed.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack

President Hamid Karzai recently made clear his objection to the opening of a Taliban office in Gulf emirate of Qatar, where peace talks between the Taliban, the USA, an the Afghan government recently began. The office has ‘been seem by some as a ‘Taliban Embassy’.
