Israeli Army Arrests Five Year Old Boy in West Bank
A human rights group named B’Tselem has released footage of a five year old Palestinian boy crying as he is taken into custody by the Israeli army in Hebron, a city in the West Bank.
The child, named Wadi Maswadeh, was arrested by soldiers on Tuesday for throwing stones. The boy’s father, who was also arrested, claims that he was blindfolded and tied up before to two of them were handed over to Palestinian police and finally released.
B’Tselem has said that arrest was illegal, because the age of criminal responsibility in Israel is 12.
The incident follows a United Nations report in June which criticized Israel for the mistreatment and even torture of Palestinian children.
