Fierce Fighting in Syria’s Idlib Province
The Syrian government seems to be intensifying its assaults on rebel positions in the northern province of Idlib, close to the border with Turkey.
Government forces have been making incremental gains against rebels since an intervention by Lebanese militia force Hezbollah began to turn the tide in late May. For the last couple of months the army has been on the offensive in Homs, and in Aleppo. Now it seems that the government is pressing its advantage by broadening the offensive to include Idlib province.
