Russia Cites New Evidence Syria Chemical Attack was False Flag

Russia has hit out at calls for force to be used against the Syrian government in the wake of an apparent chemical weapons attack on the outskirts of Damascus.

The Russian foreign ministry has described calls to use force against Syria as unacceptable, citing new evidence which emerged today which calls into question the reporting of the tragic incident.

“We’re getting more new evidence that this criminal act was of a  provocative nature. In particular, there  are reports circulating on the Internet, in particular that the  materials of the incident and accusations against government  troops had been posted for several hours before the so-called  attack. Thus, it was a pre-planned action,” said a statement issued by Russian  Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich.

New Evidence for False Flag / Media Manipulation Theory

The evidence which Lukashevich points to appears to have been first discovered by an Islamic cultural and political website called Islamic Invitation Turkey. It is a YouTube video which clearly shows the alleged chemical weapons attack, but which was published before the attack is alleged to have taken place. The video was uploaded on 20 August 2013, whilst the incident itself supposedly happened on the 21st August.

Of course the idea that Syrian rebels could have carried out a false flag attack on their own people is hard to swallow. Not impossible, considering the horrific things which happen during war, but difficult. There is, however, another possibility. If, as many suspect, rebel fighters have taken control of chemical weapons stockpiles during the takeover of army bases - then perhaps this incident began as a tragic accident. Chemical weapons are difficult to store and handle, so an accident would not be surprising if untrained rebels had taken control of such weapons and their chemical components. Perhaps the rebel leadership, once they learned of this accident, decided to use it to their advantage in a bid to elicit greater international intervention against Assad’s government – but one video had already been posted online before the order went out to ‘media manage’ the event for political reasons. Of course all of that is total speculation, but I think it does show that it pays not to take everything at face value when it comes to war reporting, because you never know what may be happening behind the scenes, out of the camera’s gaze.
